A mammoth opus in 5 parts

It’s a concept work on the different sides of self-alienation induced by moral violence and it’s a full «interactive multimedia jigsaw» in the wake of Gothic Multimedia Project’s Théatre de la Mort 08 Manifesto. «Only Bruises» is developed on multiple and parallel layers: a music suite, an online game, a story, a work of art hiding a full- lenght album, a video-art based stage play. How deep and far you will go is up to you.

A music suite

Opening the door on your right, you will get into a music suite composed by eight movements. Unlike any other album, there’s no tracklist: you can assemble your own suite, choosing your sequence randomly or according to your interpretaion of the connection among the song titles. These movements show a different genre from each other and they don’t follow the standard song form. Nonetheless each aire is conceived so as to guarantee a smooth and consistent passage to the next one.

An online game

Three doors, many choices. That’s what you’ll get here. You can choose whether to listen your «assemble-it-yourself» suite or to play. The latter decision will take you to delve into an unknown world where you’ll have to collect the clues in order to get your coveted reward. Fortune favors the bold or boldness favors the fortune ? It’s hard to tell but beware that there are crucial clues, useful clues and deceitful ones. Since there’s no countdown here, you can take your time.

A poetical novel

A hut in the wood. Two kindred spirits. But this is not a love story. Quite the opposite. Here you’ll come across a path of grief. The deliverance is a mirage whereas numbness and estrangement are devastatingly overwhelming. Lyrics have always been a basic element of G.M.P.’s Unholy Trinity of Sound, Image and Word. The plot of the story is structured in eight chapters, exactly like the musical suite. There’s not a real starting point and therefore different endings are possible.

A work of art and its secret album

If you will choose to play and get involved in the game, you will have to discover a work of art, here displayed as a puzzle to be built. Each piece will give you access to some tracks of a secret album. Piece by piece, little by little. This secret album is something radically different from the main album in terms of music style. Something you won’t expect. Here revenge is the key to face the moral violence portrayed as the leading theme in «Only Bruises…».

A video-art based stage play

One-and-three: a Supreme-Being ? No, just you. A dialogue among the inner-self, the sense of duty and the voice of despair. The assemblage you can see in this piece of video-art is not a sheer background: it’s the tragic vortex of life. Simply out of control. The clash between rationality and instinct and its dramatic crescendo are something you can’t stop. You will be allowed to access this play only if you will have completed the puzzle hiding the secret album. Avant-garde art is a hard-to-reach place.
